 Radio Advertorials Monitoring Project

Upon being awarded the mid-2004 RIAK tender to monitor and assess radio advertorials, SAM started to develop a system for fine-tuned data collection, increasing efficiency and lowering costs.

The system established in October 2004 employs “fingerprint” and “watermark” technology to monitor, record, analyze and report on audiovisual broadcast. Two major software programs are utilized: S-print and H.E.A.R.S.

Subscribers started receiving the daily report through this system on March 1st, 2005. At this time, SAM was monitoring 32 national and regional radio stations and assessing data accordingly. Radio advertorials in 2005 approximated 40 hours per day. The number of radio stations monitored in 2009 reached 45, including 29 national channels. The first ten months of 2008 saw approximately 65 hours of radio advertorials per day.
