AMPD (Turkish Council of Shopping Centers and Retailers) - 2005

Method: Quantitative

SAM’s Organized Retailing Opinion Research was granted the Turkish Council of Shopping Centers and Retailers’ Research Award.

The Organized Retailing Research is the first micro-level quantitative research study in Turkey analyzing the magnitude of informal economic activities in the Turkish retailing industry.

The study included three segments of the retailing industry:

  • Retail trade of all products (general retail trade)

  • Retail trade of food products (specialized food retail)

  • Specialized retail trade in textiles, clothing, shoes and leather

A series of “indeces of informal economy” were calculated in order to continue monitoring informality in the retail industry and to enable retrospective comparisons as well.
